There are many important components in producing a quality show. From the presenters on stage to the production staff behind the scenes, there can be no weak link. The chain of events begins as “lights, camera, action,” extends to cut, wrap, edit. Finally, when your room is full with an eager audience, we come at last to projection.
Poor selection of projection equipment can be a showstopper. Here are some tips to help ensure this end of your event doesn’t lose its shine.

- Lengthy setup
- Requires technician
DLP Projectors
- Extremely high resolution (film like)
- Extremely good reproduction of color
- Compatible with most computers
- HD compatible

If it’s a relatively small meeting, LCD is generally acceptable (the 3500-lumen LCD projectors are really designed for a small meeting room). If it’s a large meeting, DLP is generally better quality, though more expensive. If it’s all (or mostly) graphics, LCD High Density Projector usually has better contrast – if more video (live or taped), DLP usually does a better job.
As for the lumen rating, it should be driven by the size of the screen, the projection distance – and what you can afford. The brighter, higher resolution projectors will always look good.
